"Quick Here He Comes"
Telephone Booth 1 "Quick, Here He Comes"

Counter culture, protesting, was not the original intent for this gathering of art students.

This was my first attempt at staging a scene for a painting - an action painting you might say in Muncie, Indiana. This was not a part of any assignment in school, I just wanted something to paint over the summer break. The idea for the painting was innocent enough - simply to get my friends, as many as I could, into a phone booth. I set up my camera on a tripod and simply said to my friends, "go". I started to shoot the event. By chance, a businessman, dressed in his uniform blues came walking down the street during the event. By chance, the idea came for the concept. A protest against the establishment! WOW! Let's get stoned!

Well, on return to Ball State the next fall my painting instructors were pleased to say the least. By the following spring the painting was on display at the Indianapolis Museum of Art in a group show.
Time to get in.
