"Yee-Hah!"
My daughter loves to put herself in imaginative rolls. One that she took on at an early age was playing a cowboy at a local amusement park in New Jersey. I was struck by her determination to be totally absorbed in her new character. My biggest surprise was her interest in the toy gun. She quickly picked up the skill of twirling that gun around her figure. I continue to be fascinated by our society's playfulness towards dangerous weapons. Movies, video games, and even our local drug store has a kid's toy rack full of toy cap guns, hand grenades, bows and arrows. Aren't drug stores about healing? My daughter was the model for this new wire sculpture - the first new wire sculpture in 10 years. "Yee Hah!" now faces and happily mocks our more serious cowboy "Stick 'Em Up" in our home.
